Indiana Women's Flag Football is an all-women's non-contact league, playing a 7 on 7 game. Each of our six teams (Black Widows, Blue Ballers, Cherry Bombs, Monarch Mavens, Pink Ladies, and Verde Vixens) has a roster of 14 players.
We play Thursday nights at 7pm during the summer (May - August) at Mack Park Grandstand Field. Games are played concurrently and include two 30 minute halves with a 5 minute break. Spectators are encouraged to come watch on the sidelines - just remember to bring a chair or picnic blanket. Enter off Hospital Drive and park near the livestock barns. Bathroom access is available.
There are 10 regular season games, allowing each team to play another twice. After our 10 games, we begin our post-season games where the 1st ranked team faces off against 4th, and 2nd takes on 3rd. The winners move on to our championship Game, the Golden Tree Cup. The 5th and 6th ranked teams also battle each other in the Dead Tree Bowl, loser takes the prize. Our first and last place winners receive prizes and titles based on Indiana, PA being the Christmas Tree Capital.
The Indiana Women's Flag Football League (IWFFL) was established in 2015 in Indiana, Pennsylvania by Julie Sadler and Kaycee Newell. We began as a women's non-contact flag football league, playing a 5-on-5 game, with modified "backyard" football rules. The 2015 season began with 4 teams made up of 9 players each. Our 2015 teams were: Cherry Bombs (red), Blue Ballers (blue), Pink Ladies (pink), and Hulkettes (green). The Cherry Bombs came away with the 2015 Golden Tree Cup Championship win with a narrow defeat over the Blue Ballers in double overtime. The Hulkettes took the prize in the "Dead Tree Bowl" against the Pink Ladies (meaning they came in last in the league).
In 2016 we worked hard to increase the size of our league to 6 teams of 10 full-time players, allowing additional space for 3 subs on each team. Our 2016 teams were: Cherry Bombs, Blue Ballers, Pink Ladies, Verde Vixens (formerly Hulkettes), Monarch Mavens, and Black Widows. The 4th ranked Black Widows took a hard-earned and surprising victory over the Verde Vixens in the 2016 Golden Tree Cup Championship. The Monarch Mavens took the prize in the Dead Tree Bowl against the Pink Ladies.
In 2017 we were able to close registration only days after opening it. We filled the league to capacity with 13 players for each of the 6 teams. We also introduced referees into game play to cut down on penalties, injuries, and team disputes. The top-ranked Blue Ballers finally came out victorious over the undefeated Black Widows in the 2017 Golden Tree Cup Championship. The Pink Ladies took the prize in the Dead Tree Bowl against the Monarch Mavens.
