IMPORTANT 2020 DATES

PRINTABLE SEASON SCHEDULE (PDF)

HOW TEAMS HELP OUT

Field Painting & Field Set-Up
Every week we repaint ALL the field lines.  The league board will do the initial measuring and painting prior to the Orientation/Scrimmage.  Each week one team will be responsible for painting the field between Saturday and Wednesday.  Please watch the forecast as wet fields don't take paint well.  The process takes approx. 1 hour if 2-3 people can help.  Please help your team out when it's your turn!

If it's your team's week to paint, it's also your team's week to show up to the field early on game day and set up.  Kaycee (or Tara or Jen) will be there with the equipment at 5:45 pm.  Please make sure at least 4 of your players arrive by 6:00pm to grab field markers, end zone signs, scoreboards, ball bags, etc. and distribute them to their spots.   This should take about 30 minutes if you have 4 people.

**TeamSnap has some cool features to use within your team such as volunteer sign-ups.

Field  Tear-Down
When the game is over, we have a "Losers clean the field" policy.  If you find yourself in that position (or even if you don't), please grab some pylons, scoreboard, or end zone sign and drop them off at Kaycee's truck (parked near the entrance).  The quicker we can do this, the quicker our we can unload the equipment and get to the bar! :)

REFEREES

Picture
After years of struggling to have enough referees to officiate each game and taking on the additional responsibility of managing schedules and last-minute call-offs... We (the executive board) are calling it QUITS!

Our new referee system puts the responsibility of refereeing entirely on teams to manage.  Teams will either need to recruit a non-player referee to officiate games on their behalf OR may rotate through players to take turns being referee every week.  A ref/captain training meeting will be held before games begin for those who need a refresher.

Confused?  This is an example of what the weekly Ref Schedule will look like:

  • Referee assignments will be clearly listed on the back of the "Match Up" sign at the entrance of the field.
  • Referees should report to their assigned field by 6:45 to do the coin toss.
  • If you recruit a non-player to referee on your behalf and they are unable to attend a game or simply don't show up - someone from your team MUST fill in that spot.
  • Referees will not be asked to ref games in other divisions.
  • For the sake of fairness, referees YOU recruit will not be able to referee your games (just as your players are not allowed to referee your games).

*NEW* FIELD BAGS

Along with your field scoreboard, each field will be equipped with referee and first-aid essentials in a clear waterproof bag.  No more running all the way back to the entrance for first-aid supplies!  However, we will not be checking the bags once the season starts so if you use something important like an ice pack and we need to replenish please send us an email or text AFTER the game (if you mention it at the bar or in the middle of a game, we will 100% forget).

MACK PARK ETIQUETTE

For those who don’t know: Mack Park is a private park owned and operated by the JS Mack Foundation and maintained by Paul (the nicest man alive).  They run the park on a tight budget and we need to do everything we can to treat the park like our own home. For the sixth year in a row, Mack Park has kindly allowed us to play on their fields without a field fee.  In return we ask that players volunteer for our yearly work-project to give back!

Parking @ Mack
To park next to the field, use at Entrance #1 off Hospital Dr.  Parking is limited at the grandstands. Paul, the Mack Park groundskeeper has asked that we do not park in the grass.  This leaves ruts in the grass that need to be fixed (it’s costly). Please park smart (close together) and carpool to reduce the # of cars.  Do not drive down the walking trail from the 6th St entrance or the back road behind the barns.

Overflow Parking
We have received permission to use the parking lot across the street as overflow.  Please keep it clean! This goes TRIPLE for that lot because we can easily get permission revoked - then we’d be screwed and y’all would have to bus your asses to the field!

Cleanliness
Pick up after yourself, your kids, and your team.  Do not leave anything on the field.  Alcohol is PROHIBITED (so if they find beer cans in the trash, we will hear about it!!)  We have earned a reputation for being polite and clean.  Let’s keep it that way :)

Children
ABSOLUTELY NO UNATTENDED CHILDREN.  If you are bringing kids they must be looked after by an attentive adult or teen-sitter.   It’s a scientific fact that children left to run wild tend to form groups and throw rocks or mulch at other kids, on the field, or at cars.  Also, except for emergencies, kids are not allowed in the “Player Zone” between the fields.

Side offer: if you have a responsible teenagers your family looking to make an extra buck, there are usually some moms who need their kids watched while we play.  Post on our Facebook group page if you need childcare or have a teenager looking for some cash.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/iwfflplayers/

Dogs
Dogs must be leashed.  No exceptions.

Post Game Celebrations
A little after-game celebration in the parking lot is just fine.  Keep it discreet, don’t litter, and don’t stay past 8:30ish. Paul has to lock up the park and he gets up early in the morning so please don’t make him kick you out.  If he has to kick you out, we hear about it and then you’re officially a pain in our ass. ;)

We party at our #1 sponsor, Brunzies Bar, every Thursday after games.  This is where we all get to know each other and it’s ½ of the fun. Don’t miss out!  Drinks are cheap and it fun to filter in and take over the place ;)

RULE CHANGES

5v5 RULES
7v7 RULES
Major Changes for 2020:
  • League is now divided into two divisions: 7v7 Hardcore and 5v5 Softcore.
  • 7v7 Teams will continue to follow 2019 7v7 rules (no changes from 2019) and the 5v5 Teams will compete under new 5v5 rules.

FUNDRAISING

Fundraising
Playing in our league is crazy affordable!  Most leagues charge $12/game and we are half that (plus you get an awesome Championship Day, End-of-Season Party, and Awards!).  The reason it’s so affordable is because we ALL hustle to gather season sponsors and sell tickets to our annual fundraiser/party.

Party Party Party
    Saturday, October 17
    8pm - Midnight
    Disobedient Spirits

Every year we throw a massive party at Disobedient Spirits in Homer City (a devoted sponsor) catered by 221 S Main St (run by amazing women and league players). The party is half costume dance party and half flip cup tournament.

We will start handing out tickets for players to sell in June and will collect them by the end of the season.  We will ask that all players try to get at least  2 - 4 people to purchase tickets (this includes your purchase, if you are able to come).

Team Ticket Challenge!!!!
We will be running a competition for ticket sales between teams.  The team with the most ticket sales will receive a super awesome prize, beyond your wildest imagination and dreams… Your team will be win the ability to call EVERY coin toss for the 2021 season (this does not mean you'll WIN the coin toss - you just get to call heads/tails).  Our 2019 winner was the Violet Femmes!

Remember, this is a FUNDRAISER.  Whether you know you can attend the party or not (we hope you do because it’s fun) all the money raised supports the league.
